Well that didn't take long.... Cubs fight in the dugout.
There was a scuffle in the Chicago Cubs' dugout following the first inning of Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers in Maryvale, Ariz. It wasn't apparent initially which players were involved.
Starting pitching Carlos Silva did not want to talk to the media, according to a Cubs spokesperson. The Brewers scored six runs, including three unearned, as the Cubs committed three errors in the inning. Silva gave up two home runs in the inning.
Silva is vying for a spot in the starting rotation. He has maintained that based on his performance early last season that he already has proven he should be a starter. Cubs manager Mike Quade has not named a fourth or fifth starter at this point.
Nice, my boys are in mid season form already.
But I hope they just cut Carlos Silva. We have already filled our quota for fat, overpaid, underachieving latino pitchers on this team. When he showed up to spring treaining and said he had already earned a job in the starting rotation I almost spit out my coffee and I wasn't even drinking any. In the second half of last year he went 2-4 with a 10.61 ERA. He is more useless than condoms.
UPDATE: Silva and Aramis were the Cubs scufflers. Ramirez calls it “misunderstanding,” says he’s never been a “troublemaker.”
