Rio Ferdinand larks about on the beach as he scoffs ice-cream and shows off his diving skills on holiday in France

His Manchester United team-mate might be facing a personal hell but Rio Ferdinand appears not to have a care in the world.

The centre-back looked very relaxed as he enjoyed a break in the south of France with his wife Rebecca Ellison.

And he happily scoffed on an ice cream cone before showing off his diving skills to a couple of admiring youngsters.

He and Rebecca snuggled up on their sun loungers on the beach as they played with their phones, no doubt catching up on the news back home.

And although it was only a short break for the couple, who jetted back to the UK from Nice yesterday, they both looked refreshed, tanned and in love.

Ferdinand, 31, and Rebecca had been in France when news of his England and Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney apparently having cheated on wife Coleen with prostitute Jennifer Thompson first emerged.

And while Ferdinand may have been concerned about his team-mate, he appeared most set on spending time with Rebecca and returning home to their two sons, Lorenz and Tate.

Despite the fact Rio was himself alleged to have had a fling with a model while on his stag week earlier this year, Rebecca apparently decided to give their marriage another shot.

So it's no wonder she might be worried about Coleen, who she has spent many nights out with including the Player Of The Year awards in May, as she may know exactly how Mrs Rooney feels.

Coleen was photographed yesterday leaving her parents Tony and Colette McLoughlin's house for the first time since the allegations about Rooney's extra-martial activities broke.

The 24-year-old is believed to have told Wayne: 'I don't need you anymore. I don't want to see you. Just go and play football', as he prepared to play for England in Switzerland.

It has now been claimed that Coleen is preparing to head to the Barbados holiday home owned by her and Wayne to collect her thoughts.

But despite the new claims, Ferdinand and Rebecca appeared to be happier than ever as they headed home.

The pair, who married in 2009, met when Rebecca was an accountant and have been together ever since.
