not really. If I like Pink Floyd, I like Pink Floyd...not the Beatles.
Saying I like Apples doesn't = I like oranges...though both are fruit.
the Beatles are talented, but tired. That was my point.
I know everyone loves them, and I also know that everyone loves the familiar...but, uh, there's loads better new music from this century and I think it would be nice to let a dead dog lay.
Which will be said by some new generation for your favorite timeless bands. The cycle simply starts anew. You can't let a dead dog lay when people are still all listening to Mozart, Beetoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky. No more than you can tell Drama-fans to put down William Shakespeare or even the majority of plays made between 1920 and 1986. They get repeated and people will never tire of seeing them again. Same thing for Elvis. People will be getting collections for him well past 2020.

I suggest everyone give this a shot...

I went down the list and cut everything by 15% or so with the exception of that 600 billion in military. That had to go down to 400. I took the 50 from Afghanistan and Iraq and made it zero. We better be done with that by 20 freakin' 15. Veteran's benefits went from 149 to 125. Private charity will have to pick up the slack.
I had to end all foreign aid and I ended all agriculture subsidies. Programs with a budget less than 10 billion (like college aid) or less weren't cut at all.
Taxes had to be raised on income plus that bank thing. No sin taxes needed, no VAT needed, no carbon tax needed. Social security was fixed by raising the age and ending the wage limit. I ticked that last item, too.

More great news. I wonder where the limit on this growth will be?
As great as Macs are, the price will still be a determining factor at the end of the day. I don't see it getting as popular as PCs are. Maybe 20%?

As much as I love them, all of Apple's designs are getting old. The Macbook (nee iBook) has looked the same (minus a few paint jobs) for over 5 years; the current iMac design harkens back to the eMac (yes, I know, its flatter, what an innovation...wheee), which in turn was highly derivative of the original iMac. The MacBook Pro is just an AluPB, which in turn was merely a revision of the original Titanium G4. Now, the "new" iPod nano is nothing more than a iPod mini that went on a diet, and the full iPod, although much sleeker than its predecessors, is still essentially the same design as the iPod that came out in 2001. And the story goes on: the Mac Pro, a warmed over PowerMac G5; the Airport/Airport extreme, essentially unchanged since its release; the Airport Express, a power adapter with flashing lights; the iSight, unchanged since its release; the Mighty Mouse, same design as the Apple Pro Mouse, etc. Essentially, the only new designs in the last three years have been: the Mac mini, the iPod shuffle, and the Cinema Displays, none of which could be considered to be attention-getters. Even the new, unreleased "iTV" is copying the Mac mini design. Not too impressive for a company which claims high design as a main benefit. Where is the new cube? the iMac (& G4)? the tiBook? There is nothing fresh or innovative about their current lineup, nothing exciting or innovative.Instead, its all inoffensively sterile, to my eyes; walking into an Apple store has become similar to walking into IKEA, nothing unexpected, just clean lines. It's like they've become artistically constipated. Or is this just what we get for Apple's new push on "competitive prices"?
In my opinion, its time for some fresh blood, someone with a new vision. And yes, I'm looking squarely at you, Steve and Jonathan. I want to be excited again, and not just by the "guts" of the computer. I, for one, miss the Macworlds of 5 years ago...

When I just upgraded through iTunes on Mac, after downloading for a second it flashed "Verifying iPhone with Apple".
Has that been there before? Did I miss it in the past?
Been that way for a while.

Hey Apple, way to leave your initial customers with AT&T in the dark. Great thinking! Why would they implement this with Verizon before AT&T? How about just do it at the same time!

If Boot Camp is supposed to be one of the biggest new features, where is identification of it on the poster?
I see on the Far Left Top corner 'Universal' but not boot camp. I finf this strange.
Does that Universal Logo mean more then just PowerPC+MacIntel? Maybe Mac+PC? 'virtualization'?
Since Parallels came out, Apple has been downplaying Boot Camp. (In the "I'm a Mac and a PC" ad, they even now say "Purchase of Parallels required" rather than "Windows", where it implied to use Boot Camp. So before it implied using Boot Camp, now it implicitely mentions Parallels.)
We won't see Apple embracing run-in-place Windows apps on OS X. It just involves TOO MUCH TESTING! (Heck, OS/2 actually ran a copy of Windows, and it was flaky at running Windows apps.)

Looking forward to the updates, no doubt. Will be my first Mac and the waiting is what makes us feel alive. ;) It's like those old time Heinz ketchup commercials that always end up in "the best thing comes to those who wait".

Blow through your data cap with 650MB downloads for every point update? Not happening until Apple can deliver smaller downloads for updates.

Still no Verizon version?
Who cares if there's no Verizon version. That means there's not probably anything that needs to be fixed or any bugs on the Verizon iPhone

Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! It BURNS, it BURNS!
Oh, I thought I had an affected computer but don't. Was just practicing. :o
Nice for the thousands who have had no problems with their battery but get a new one after a year or more of use.
Ugh, this is going to give my PC-loving friends fuel for YEARS.
Bud, you've got enough fuel on PC folks for dozens of CENTURIES so I wouldn't worry about it. ;)

There is a very good article in the latest Popular Science (just got it in the mail two days ago -- I assume it is Nov-2002 issue -- when I get home, I'll verify).
The article discusses everything you guys are talking about.
It shows, very clearly, how Mhz and Ghz for benchmarking is not a good idea - it compares AMD to Intel, then throws the PowerPC into the mix.
It's definitely worth a read.

I'm going to be pissed if there's no new iPhone.
However, I don't think Apple cares about me.

So there is more room for growth with Mac sales. Of course this is true because the market % is so low that it's easier to go up. This is like how Android skyrocketed, just more room to grow when nobody has your products.
The only flaw with that is the rest of the market is shrinking.
So if the market is down as a whole, and one manufacture is up, that one manufacturer is definitely doing something right.

Thats no true.
Apple just a few days ago released Mac OS X 10.6.7 and was only 475MB, and the Combo update was only 1.12GB. Mac OS X 10.6.6 brought the Mac App Store and was only 143MB.
I don't know why your updates are 4GB.
He didn't mean the Mac OS; he meant an app he bought from the App Store that was 4GB.

It's appropriate that Toys'r'Us would carry the iPad 2, an overpriced toy.

I don’t know if Apple systems take takes this into account for stock distribution, but LS would be one of the last places I’d expect to find an AT&T/GSM based iPad, given the US Headquarters for AT&T Mobility 1500 feet from the mall.
There are other stores, I like the one in North Point. Not too big and not the snobbery found at LS, IMHO. However, if you don’t have a car, I guess its kind of moot.
So Walmart is full of obese hillbillies?
I bought my iPad 2 at Walmart: 7 folks in line, 15 iPad 2's. Everyone was very nice. Im a 24yr old 6'2'', 190lb Systems engineer(with all my teeth)...and I shop there all the time. Dont hate...

Battery life? Not saying it isn't worth it to you. Just saying, there are trade offs (which you are well aware of, most likely).
Battery Life, build quality, customer support...all big things. That said, I agree with the core of Nykwil's argument. The Apple Tax has gotten out of control. Im tired of Toshiba/Dell/HP making systems with far superior specs, at 30% less than Apple. That doesnt stop the masses from buying MB's and showing Apple "we* dont know the difference".
