Photobucket, Flickr, etc. None of them accurately show the color in this photo as I see it straight off of the card. It's a lot warmer before the upload. Oh well:cool:

I really like this one. I love the use of b&w with its high contrast. My eye starts on the front left pillar, then is pulled to the right column along the shaft of light on the ground to the bright side of the right column, then the contrast pulls me to the dark side, which then pulls to the bright side of the back left pillar and eventually leads to the perfectly lit Washington Monument. Where were you standing? Lincoln Memorial? This is of course assuming that I am correct in guessing thats DC and not some other monument somewhere in the world.

I think the iPod Classic still has its place in the line-up, at least until flash storage catches up with hard-drive based storage. Once we see a 128-gig iPod Touch, that gap will be eliminated (and this may well be the only reason why Apple still sells the Classic).
I do think it's incredible to see how much the technology has evolved since 2001. That unassuming little mp3 player has become one of the world's best-selling smartphones and the current world leading tablet computer, as well as helping to create a revolution in the way music and media is sold and distributed.

When you're married, it's a partnership, and it's no longer a case of "your money" and "her money", but a case of "OUR" money. Once responsibilities are out the way, then personal purchases can be looked at, but unless you're in a job where you have a LOT of disposable income far in excess of what's required to pay the mortgage and many bills, then yes it's only right you make sure you have the money to go out and buy a gadget which, most of the time, only you will use.
I'm fortunate that my wife enjoys using technology, but I still wouldn't go out on payday and just buy a new gadget without at least letting her know I was doing it, and if I spend money on something, it's only fair she does the same ... which means for whatever you spend, you need to double it and again it's only after looking at bills and responsibilities that you can do so.
Good post man. :) You obviously have your priorities straight.

Manufacturing build wealth, generate revenue and helps a nation defend itself in time of war, we have shipped most of that overseas. So what happens when we have to go to war on a world scale? The U.S has been protecting Taiwan for several years and what have the done for the U.S? Nothing!

In case this of use to anyone, I have a week 23 2.0Ghz macbook which was demonstrating no random shutdowns or any other problems prior to the 1.1 update. After the update, my system idle temperature has dropped by about 10 degrees C, from ~50-52 degrees to ~40-44. Nothing has appeared to have broken and temperatures under max load remain unchanged at around 73-76 degrees.
An interesting change appears after the machine has run at full load. The fans now run until the CPU temp has scaled back to the low 40s, whereas before the update they stopped running at full tilt once the CPU temp had reached around 50 degrees.

Your community? You are a factory worker and make $7/hr?
These comments are so unrealistic. NIMBY ought to be the new nickname for the USA.

I think you need to do a little history reading on The Beatles before you embarrass yourself even more.
Seriously.
I am dazzled by your arguments, finished nicely with the 'let's focus on the messenger because I don't have a clue what I am talking about'.
Move on, son: this is not your topic.

As I've stated before, No Way does Apple realease the updated MBPs before the iPad is released!
Yes, I know that they are two different categories, but the MBPs would definitely steal a lot of the iPad's thunder.
I, too, would love to have the MBPs. Unfortunately, we are all just going to have to wait a while longer...
I'm glad that there's another person in the world that thinks the same as me.
I said the exact same thing. However, my mind was turned by the masses of people saying Apple would want to release around the same time as they'll get more people in the store and spending more money.
I personally think both arguments are extremely valid. I'm more excited about next Tuesday as a possible update than any other Tuesday before though. However, I expect an ever-growing familiarity that is disappointment.
Something someone said about Apple waiting to put the new version of SL on them is a new idea i hadn't thought of as the reason for the delay.
:apple: is slowly cutting every last bit of my soul into tiny pieces the longer i wait. Melodramatic i know, but it's true

Hmm, support of the standards on one hand (see Adobe apps in the Itunes store) and criticism on the other.
The only thing they failed to do is provide a call to action. There is neither a link to Adobe or Apple. They are expecting that people actually care enough about the product that they will search out a way to provide feedback on the topic to the appropriate powers that be.
If they are serious about making it a cause then they need to do something radical. Pull all of their products from the store, even if it is only temporary. Otherwise, it's just talk.

And don't have a single 12/13in model in existence? I don't think so.
Some people want small form factors. It's a shame Apple thinks form factors and power are in a 1-to-1 relationship. Some people want powerful laptops with smaller displays (12in PB is no more) or less powerful laptops with larger displays (15in iBook is no more). Hopefully Apple learns to stop limiting themselves in this way. Think differently differently.
wow , talk about completely missing a joke... wow.

What's your point? That competitors will now also use 8MP sensors? Well, they already have been using them for quite a while. Apple is simply doing a catch up here. By the time iPhone gets 8MP, other phones will have 10MP or more.
The iPhones 5 MP camera is better then the competitors 8 MP cameras. If they are on the same quality level with a new 8 MP camera it will be better then the competitors 12 MP camera.
Megapixel numbers are not as important as most people think.

I think this is wonderful news! But not surprising. People have been waiting for this for so long. We always knew this partnership was meant to be, for it was written, or rather sung...After all, in the song “A Hard Day’s Night” there is a line that has a double reference to Apple Computers.
"You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things"
The reference to "iWork" is obvious, and it’s disappointing no one noticed this earlier. This is the Beatles urging people to use iWork instead of Microsoft Word when doing stuff for business.
But more importantly, if you play the second part of this line backward, “to buy you things” (http://homepage.mac.com/autrefois/macrumors/ipodbeatles2.m4a), you can clearly can hear John Lennon singing “Now ya have a iPod” (http://homepage.mac.com/autrefois/macrumors/ipodbeatles.m4a).
Sure, it should be "an iPod", but it's amazing enough the Beatles knew back in 1964 that the iPod would exist, we don't need to quibble over their grammar here. So expect a Beatles and Apple Computer partnership soon, with a clear possibility of a Beatles iPod -- you wanted the Beatles on iTunes, well now ya have a iPod!
For any naysayers out there, listen to the song clips yourself on the links above or use your own copy (for example, once you download it from iTunes in the near future!). This at long last explains why in the forward version of the song John clearly sings " thin' " instead of "things" — all the time there was a backward message about the iPod just waiting to be discovered.
Now what's this I hear about Paul being dead?
:)
Anyway, this will be great once people can finally get Beatles songs from the iTunes Store. The greatest music group on the greatest music store.

only 25% faster. well, I pass it. coreduo is still faster. it's still useful or my work. but I will get new MBP when mac os x Leopard will come with mac next year. :D
Just goes to show that what Apple says about how much faster stuff is a load of bull. How come the MBP is 39% faster and the MB only 25%. Theyre the same chips at the same speeds arent they?
What im trying to say is the MB should be 39% faster than the previous one right?

Wonderful post! So the more "professional" editors we see getting "pissy" means the opposite of what one might think.
You mean i can't add unlimited tracks as i need to make my timelines look so complex that my clients quiver in the awesomeness of my brilliance.
The point that everyone is trying to make is that the end result is based on skill and telling the story. FCP may help that but a retard using FCP will make no better of a film than using movie maker.
