the zune isn't out yet...
And just like Vista, who the hell knows when thats gonna be?
Zuning (or whatever the hell it is) is a whole load of nonsense. Only about 97.1% of all hot chicks have no friggin clue how to do anything on their iPods other than play music (calenders, contacts, equaliser). You expect that blonde sitting across from you at the airport to know Zuning? Well she's the one who routinely clicks on "U R hte 1th vistir!! U won a PINK Ipod Nano!!! CLICK HERE" links...
HA! Good luck

Toys R Us...Apple is SERIOUS about positioning the iPad for gaming and entertainment...maybe even education. I can see an iPad waterproof enclosure in the near future.
Do you know a lot of people that do their gaming and book learnin' in swimming pools?

You apparently didn't notice, but I did not even mention a $399 retail price, let alone "spout off" about it.Sure you did. Go back and read your response to the portion of my post that you quoted.
You directly/exclusively quoted...People need to stop with the "OMG windows is $400" talk. It's just silly.and responded / spouted off with...It doesn't seem silly to me at all.Your direct quote and response to that portion of my post certainly is a mention of the $399 retail price. You directly refered to the $399 retail price and commented on it.
Refering to the $399 retail price of Vista Ultimate when we were obviously discussing "upgrading" from XP to Vista is either ignorant or disingenuous. I'll let you decide which of the two best describes you.
Have fun with that

so were there long lines at radio shack ? how much is the apple care pk
Lets say they opened at 7:30. I arrived at 6:45 and there were two people there. There were about 10 by 7:30. So not very big line, but then again I think they only received about two of each model/color, except no 64GB models.

Has anyone else noticed that Sony is a horrible, horrible company?
Ridiculous proprietary formats. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony#Proprietary_formats)
Offensive ad campaigns. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony#Advertisements)
Rootkits in their cd's. (http://news.com.com/Sonys+rootkit+fiasco/2009-1029_3-5961248.html)
Blueray outrageous copy protection.
Now exploding batteries?
If I can help it, I will never knowingly buy a Sony product again.

I get the point. Really.
He might be a great developer - but his app crashes consistently for me.
He is philosophically opposed to the process. Tough. QA takes time.
I don't get to write and deploy code - I watch it go through committees and batteries of tests. Reviews are part of life - even within Firefox I'm sure Mozilla reviews code.
He should test it before sending it in. No loops that way.
To me he is a whiner.
He should have strict bounds checking, rich exception handling before he submits his social app--I don't know how we'll survive without it.

No offense, Spike, but that is a joke. You simply can't configure your hardware in a mac as much as you can in a PC. I know people who are hardcore PC "tinkerers", who barely touch their mac (with regards to messing with the hardware), because there's simply nothing interesting to do with it, except maybe upgrade it.
Can you buy a 5 fan aluminium case for a mac? No.
Can you buy cooling systems, fan regulators and lights? No.
Can you buy wrapped IDE cables and cut a hole in the side of your mac to show off everything inside? No.
Do you have different types of hardware manufacturers, competing for your money? Well yes, but not as much as PC users.
The very market Apple has always played for and still plays for today, to some extent, is people who are computer illiterate. Nearly all of their advertising campaigns say: "Macs are easier to use that PCs." Thereby trying to attract those who can't use PCs, or at least, find them difficult to use.
Mac users are the most disillusioned people that i've ever seen. You guys lie and lie and lie to yourselves time and again, just to make yourselves feel better about buying a Mac.
In general, if you want a computer for gaming, you DO NOT buy a Mac, unless you're very stupid. I'd say about one tenth of the games that come out on PC, also get released on Macs, and even when they do, it's a few months to a year after the PC version is released. Granted, Apple is doing an amazing job of getting more games developers to release OSX version of their games, but still, most of the time Mac users have to wait for the game to be release after the PC version. Although, basically all of the best games do eventually get released on Macs. The words "Mac Gamer" is an oxymoron and the words "Hardcore Mac Gamer" is just a myth.
A Mac is a great computer, so stop bull****ting yourselves about all of the things you think it can do and just accept that Macs are still more stylish and more stable than PCs and have, in my opinion and i'm sure yours, a much better looking and interesting to use OS. PCs are slowly catching up to Macs in that department, especially with regards to stability and if you really want a stylish computer, it's easy to find as long as you have someone that can build it. I'd personally, rather have a well build, aluminium case (NOT Lian Li cr@p) cased computer than a white, plastic Mac that anyone can buy.
It's been proven that more intelligent and richer people buy Macs. And that is the most moronic thing i've ever heard. OF COURSE the people who buy macs are, in general, going to have more money and be more intelligent, for the simple fact that Macs are far more expensive than PCs. That's like saying:
"People that buy Mercedes cars are more intelligent and richer than people who buy Skodas."
Macs are more expensive, therefore you need more money to buy them, - the people who buy them have more money because they have better jobs and they have those better jobs because they have college degrees or a better education. GET IT?
Considering that statement says Mac users are more intelligent than PC users, Mac users sure do buy into a lot of stupid, ************, sensationalized advertising.
I believe that Apple WAS turning heads, but with the advent of the 3GHz Intel CPU, i hope Apple will finally start to realize that they need to do something, and fast, but i don't think they will.
Now don't get me wrong, i love Macs. What i HATE is Mac users who continue to lie about what Macs can do, what people who use Macs are like and spout crap like: "Mac users are sooo much better than PC users!". Just grow up!
And the sadness of it all is that, in my experience, PC users don't really give a crap about Mac users, but Mac users continue to insult PC users at every chance they get. It's childish.
It's Apples fault. If they can't run their company properly, they can't expect anyone else to do it for them.
Now when are the fricking new Macs going to be released?

This is a breathtaking device that I can see alot of people wanting, especially me! I wonder who they will partner with in the UK? Congrats Apple Inc!
Very impressive! Worth the standing ovation and the $6 gain in AAPL share price.
Now the long wait begins.

In other words, what we saw tonight was nowhere near the final form of the application.
This statement has me a bit puzzled. FCP is supposed to be out in around 2 months. Are they going to rush the rest into FCP in this amount of time, or get the basics in there, then drag onto multiple updates?
Not at all. They wanted to give folks a taste. Back in February they had enough to do that and 'locked' the current form (with perhaps some things left out on purpose) as the demo. Showed it to a select group and then saved it for last night,
Then kept working on FCP and everything else (which has been under work for a while)

it's about friggin time apple build a serious volume manufacturing plant in the US! end of story!
Maybe it would lower the suicide rate in the USA, which is about twice as high as in a Foxconn factory in China.

Yup. Adobe like to take money from you.
No kidding.
I will make a bold prediction - within 5 years the "major" upgrade cycle will be at 12 months, with the "mid-cycle" cycle at 6 months. The number of new features found in those major cycles will approximate the number we're seeing in the current mid-cycle updates.
But prices will not go down.
I also won't be surprised if, at that point, Adobe will only offer subscription (month to month) pricing - you won't be able to purchase the software outright (or buy what amounts to a perpetual license, if you want to be pedantic).

Agreed. Recipe for sucess:
Click.
Enter credit card information.
Get on with life.
Sign for package when it arrives in about three weeks.
Enjoy your new device.
The delays were actually a good thing for me. Gave me time to "cool off"
I'm with you on every point, except the cooling off period.
Now that Apple's quality control had tanked, I know that there's a great likelihood ill get a bad one and the return game will begin.
Even though I have an Apple store nearby, I buy BTO, so I'm stuck with what has become "The Crap Shoot, Gambling The Apple Way".

I replied with "so you never charge" to say that even with wireless syncing one will have to charge iDevice at some point (matter of days if it's an iPhone, maybe a week if it's an iPod - both in use not just on a shelf). Why drain battery by syncing when you can charge batter while syncing and with wireless sync that can be done by induction charging which is slow and charger is costly ergo makes little sense. I'm all for wireless sync in addition to current wired method though. One more option is good.
OP was hoping to be freed from being tied to one iTunes, this has nothing to do with when you charge your device.. of course it still has to be charged.
I'll quote what I said again for you....
so i can sync over wifi, which is going to be slow as hell, and i still have to keep my device on a charging pad or in a dock? Why wouldn't i just plug it into the damn computer to speed up the process?
wireless charging/sync is stupid, time consuming, battery wasting, gimmick.

I don't know what people are fussing about. If these price points are true, Windows Vista is pretty cheap.
Remember, if you buy Vista, it'll most likely last at least 4-5 years before the next paid upgrade, unlike with OS X where if you want the latest and greatest, you're looking at an upgrade almost every year.
Vista looks to be a big jump from WinXP too, and seems a lot more mac-like. Complain all you want, but more competition puts Cupertino into a sweat and drives Apple into innovating even more. Support for Direct X 10 is going to be felt in about 1-2 years when people start getting DX10 graphics cards and more games take advantage of it.
At least with Apple you DO get the 'greatest'. Not so with Brand X I am afraid. How long has it taken MS to get a new OS out? Years! And if MS could charge for their Service Packs, by calling them something new, they would. But, their product is so full of bad code they cannot do it. Also, your view that MS's innovation "..puts Cupertino into a sweat and drives Apple into innovating even more." is a laugh. It might stop some of the bleeding in Redmond. Vista better be a success. Otherwise, the market share is going to shrink even further.

If it's shipping in June, even June 30, how can it not be near final form? I mean when a developer tells me s/w is "nowhere near final form" I'm thinking early beta at best. But 2.5 months from release (assume June 30) shouldn't it be in the bug testing phases and everything else locked up?
Seeing as how it is referencing the version that was showed which was shown in February I can see how that build would be nowhere near the final form. It is a build that is at least two months old and probably a more stable/incomplete build so that it wouldn't crash constantly during the demo. I can completely see how a lot of features would be missing from the demo version.

Easiest solution is to skip Adobe... they've continually disregarded market "prices" for their products for years (even MS grew up to the fact that you can't charge end users $750 per license for Office when free alternatives exist). There are legitimately better applications produced by smaller companies as well as Apple without having to spend this kind of atrocious amount of money. Products from IMSI, Omni, etc. are cheap and very good. $650 for PS? Gimmie a break... it isn't worth 1/10 of that...

I wouldn't give a crap if walmart did anything to hurt the film studios. I don't buy movies there anyway because they actually check your ID if its R or unrated. not that I'm not old enough but I sure as hell hate taking my ID out to justify that I'm at least 17. they never have special editions or unrated versions so why the hell does it matter.
STICK TO BEST BUY OR CIRCUIT CITY.
