My parents visited here in US last year. Unfortunately my mother got high fever and admitted in hospital giving me bill of 30000$.
Insurance company denied my claims as pre existing condition. I tried several ways to convince insurance company but all in vain.
I negotiated with hospital to pay 15000 and paid off hospital bill.
I also got a doctor bill later and that went to collections. I didnt pay doctor bill (500 dollars) till today.
Does this 500 dollar collection notice will effect my mothers next visit?
If I pay now does it matter anyway?
Is there any chance of deportation?
Please advice...

Please take a look at page 249. If I understand it correctly, it mentions that the quota for EB1 goes from 28.6% of EB visas to 15%, EB2 goes from 28.6% to 15% and EB3 goes from 28.6% to 35%
That means they WILL create a new category of EB visas since they have to utilize these extra visas somewhere!

Have anyone heard any updates from AILA about this issue? if one knows this for sure, atleast in these days, people can start working a second (may be non-technical) job on EAD...that way you should be able to save some money for the rainy days...

Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it. I actually tried to fill out the Forms DS 156 and DS 157 and got totally lost. The following is my background. I worked at the company A in US as an Electrical Engineer until May, 08 (the end of my 6 year H1). Then, I went back to Malaysia and worked on my family business as a store manager and business owner, selling electrical appliances. My PERM is currently pending over one year now. Accordingly, I got an approval for 1 year and 2 months on my H1. I will now come back to work at company A in US, starting March 5, 09 (the same US company that I worked until May, 08).
I have questions that I am unsure about the Forms DS 156 and DS 157 as the followings:
Form DS 156
- Question 28 (who will pay for your trip): does the trip need to be paid by the US Employer? Can I pay it myself? My concern is I am not sure if I have to pay it myself because of my H1 Status. Pls advise.
- Question 20 (Name and Address of Present Employer or School): I think this should be my current company. In this case, please advise if this should be Company A that I will be start working in March or my family business in Malaysia.
- Question 21 (Present Occupation): should this be Electrical Engineer or Store Manager (Business Owner) for my family business? I actually worked as an Electrical Engineer for over 8 years. I only worked on my family business as a Store manager (Business Owner) for one year. Please advise which one I should put.

I have got fingerprint notice and appointment is after 3 weeks in Charlotte NC. I will not be available on that day and do not want to postpone the appointment.
I would like to prepone the appointment and I tried to find Charlotte USCIS local phone number but could not find anywhere. The only number is general 800 number and that was of no use.
Does anyone have any experience with Charlotte office? Can I just go there and will they do fingerprint any day before actual appointment? Charlotte is around 4 hours drive. It will be painful to drive there and find that they don't do fingerprint before appointment day. What day is normally good if I want to take the chance? I am working with Company B on H-1b. My GC labor, I-140, I-485 and EAD is filed by Company A. Now, I am close to getting EAD in few weeks. Few say that once EAD is approved, then I have start working for Company A immediately. Others say that GC and EAD is for future employment with Company A and hence, I should start working for Company A only after GC is approved.
So, I have two questions and need advice.
1. When should I start working for Company A, upon approval of EAD or approval of GC.
Ideally, I would like to start working for Company A upon approval of GC.
2. Even, if I want to transfer EAD to Company B, the job title differs as the job title on GC is more junior than the current role.
Please let me know if anyone has similar situation and need what the reality is when EAD is approved.

I have 2 approved I-140s from same company with which I am currently working. One PD is end 2004 and another is end 2005.
My I-485 was filed last July with PD end 2004 (I-140 was approved way back in 2006).
Recently, an ombudsman inquiry revealed my PD to be end 2005 and not end 2004. The 140 with PD end 2005 was never used to file 485.
Anybody with similar experience?

b) I think we should stick to immigration.
c) Earlier 'Invite a friend/Add a member' campaigns were very successful as compared to flyer/poster campaign.

Excellent input - we must do more of these. We are expanding now and getting support so I think we are in a position to do more stuff.

Third, weigh your options...and take a risk if you should.

When I say 'yes', on the DS-156 form, in response to the question regarding criminal convictions, how likely is it that I will have my visa renewed? Isn't is usually the case that consular officers are looking for any reason to deny visas/renewals?
It seems like my only option is to postpone/cancel my trip, if I want to be able to come back to complete my studies.

I had this issue with my labor not with I140. My employer provided all the required documents and then it was approved. As long as your company is financialy sound . you should get approved.
