Missing Tom or is it just the weather? Katie Holmes looks glum in the rain on the set of her new film

Separation anxiety: Katie Holmes looked glum on the set of her new film Jack and Jill in Los Angeles yesterday

Is being away from her husband making her sad?

Katie Holmes looked decidedly glum as she prepared to shoot scenes for her new film Jack and Jill alongside Adam Sandler in Beverly Hills yesterday.

The 32-year-old actress was spotted wearing a fluffy white robe over a red dress and carrying her shoes and purse whilst walking from her trailer and being protected from the rain by an assistant with an umbrella.

She had a tense look on her face as she waited to be escorted to the shooting location.

Katie's husband, Tom Cruise is currently in Prague working on his new movie Mission: Impossible IV.

Meanwhile, Katie has had to stay in Los Angeles, working on her new comedy alongside 44-year-old Sandler.

Tense: Katie appeared anxious as she waited to shoot scenes with Adam Sandler

The film is about Jack who has to deal with his twin sister Jill when she comes to stay for Thanksgiving and then refuses to leave - both characters are actually played by Sandler himself while Katie plays Jack's wife.

Adam has been spotted all over Los Angeles shooting scenes for the film dressed as a woman.

And he claims that his four-year-old daughter, Sadie is loving his new look.

'There's a mocked up picture of me (dressed as a woman) in my house that we made and my daughter Sadie, loves it,' he said. 'She's excited about it.'

True professional : Katie managed to put a huge smile on her face as the cameras were rolling

Katie Holmes started filming last week and her daughter Suri, four, has been hanging out with little Sadie, who is the same age.

While the cameras started rolling Katie put on a brave face and appeared much happier, showing off the gorgeous red dress she was hiding under her robe, but after filming was over, it was clear the actress was in a less than happy mood.

In the absence of her husband of four years, maybe some more mother-daughter time will cheer her up, or every woman's pick-me-up - a spot of shopping.

Back to glum: The actress had a serious look back on her face as she headed home with her script in her hand after a day's shooting
