Prince Harry's wedding day secret revealed

By REBECCA ENGLISH

Lord of the ring: Prince Harry walks sister of the bride and maid of honour Philippa Middleton down the aisle in Westminster Abbey

Prince Harry was so scared of dropping Kate Middleton’s wedding ring that he had a secret pocket built into his uniform to carry it, MailOnline can reveal.

While most best men carry the ring in their trouser or jacket pocket, Harry’s Blues and Royals military outfit was so tight fitting that the tailor, Kashket and Partners, was unable to incorporate one into the design.

So with the prince’s help, the firm came up with the idea of a special gold embroidered cuff which could be attached to Harry's jacket. Sewn inside was a secret compartment in which the precious Welsh gold ring could be kept safe.

Harry’s cuff was made from a heavyweight Melton wool fabric embroidered with a two per cent pure gold wire.

A spokesman said: 'The team were asked to design a small pocket to keep Kate’s ring safe, particularly during the journey from Clarence House to Westminster Abbey, as Harry has no pocket in his military trousers.

'Harry, aware that he would be waving to the crowds, feared he may drop the ring and wanted a secret compartment.

'The brothers wanted the day to run smoothly and decided this would be the best option.

'We were happy to oblige.'

A royal source added: ‘Prince Harry was terrified that he would arrived at the Abbey and find out that he had dropped the ring on the way. His brother was always ribbing him about it.'

Kashket also made Prince William’s Irish Guards uniform for the big day as well as the page boy outfits.

Back down to earth: Michael Middleton trades Rolls Royce for ride-on lawnmower after extravagance of Royal Wedding

By Daily Mail Reporter

Back to reality: Michael Middleton mowing the lawn days after he walked his daughter down the aisle

It has only been days since Michael Middleton escorted his eldest daughter Kate down the aisle to meet Prince William in Westminster Abbey.

But today he was brought back down to Earth, and reality, as he carried out some gardening chores and mowed the lawn at the family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

Without a care in the world and wearing gardening gloves and jeans, he hopped onto the ride-on mower to manicure the lawns around the country pile.

Grand: A nervous Mr Middleton with his daughter Kate in the Queen's 1977 Rolls-Royce

It was a far cry from the Queen's classic 1977 Rolls-Royce Phanton VI that he had travelled in as nearly two-billion people across the world watched him make his way from the Goring Hotel to the abbey with the Duchess of Cambridge.

After partying late into the evening and mixing with Royalty at Buckingham Palace, the family returned to their home on Saturday after spending two-nights at the Goring Hotel.

The buzz and excitement of the wedding over and the harsh reality of getting back to their daily chores and jobs will be setting in.

On Tuesday, like their new son-in-law Prince William, they will no doubt be getting back to work at their online business, Party Pieces.

The company has recently advertised for two positions to be filled, sparking speculation that the Duchess of Cambridge's only sister, Pippa, might become lady-in-waiting.

Her job would be to help Kate settle into Royal life as well as help keep her sister's diary.

Miss Middleton, 27, has become an overnight sensation after photos of her derrière were splashed across the world.

There are countless Facebook pages in praise of the maid-of-honour's behind, one of which, the Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society, has over 44,000 fans.

It rivals the main Pippa Middleton fan page, which has around 92,000 followers.

The entire set up was so discreet that Harry was able to stand at the high altar at Westminster Abbey, in front of an estimated two billion television viewers, and pull the band out without anyone knowing.

Kashket began as hatters to the Russian royal court in the early 20th century. It specialises in parade and ceremonial uniforms and holds a royal warrant from the Queen.

Recently the company made a suit for Colin Firth in the film The King's Speech and made all of Jude Law’s outfits in the movie Alfie.

Kate's first lesson: Who must curtsey to whom

By Christopher Wilson

Learning curve: Now that she is officially a member of the Royal Family, the Duchess of Cambridge has a set of rules to learn

The first thing the new Duchess of Cambridge will have noticed about her altered status is that the Palace policemen have started saluting her.

In the state rooms of Buckingham Palace on Friday afternoon, female servants began to curtsey and grizzled retainers in their 100-year-old livery bowed their heads low.

One former courtier said: ‘At first she’ll be embarrassed by all this courtly attention from people she barely knows. But she’ll soon come to realise that it’s not what she wants, but what everybody else wants that matters when it comes to people showing their respect.’

As a brand new royal duchess, and wife of the second in line to the throne, Kate will need to bone up on who curtseys to whom.

In case nobody’s told her yet, here’s a rough guide to how things work.
If the Queen comes into the room, it’s simple enough – Kate should curtsey to her.

If Camilla appears and is with Charles, William’s wife should also curtsey to her.

But if Charles is absent but William is present, then Kate outranks Camilla, who should – in theory – curtsey to Kate. This is because William outranks Camilla in terms of the lineage, which means that effectively so does his wife while he is present.

If neither William nor Charles is there, then Kate curtseys to Camilla because – woman to woman – Camilla is her senior in the Firm.

In the case of Princess Anne – born a princess – and Princess Alexandra (the Queen’s cousin and granddaughter of George V), both these women have royal blood in their veins and therefore are more important than Kate – unless William happens to be around, in which case she’s more important than them. (Sophie Wessex, being married to a royal junior in rank to William, just has to curtsey to them all).

As for Prince Andrew’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, they out-rank Kate – but again not when William’s in the room.

Fortunately, Kate has had a long time to absorb what might politely be called the ‘ancient traditions’ of monarchy.

Those privy to the plans she and William are laying down for when they are King and Queen, believe that much of this ancient courtesy – well-meaning though it may be – will be swept away as the Cambridges seek to rejuvenate the monarchy.

Sarah Jessica Parker spent yesterday with her twin daughters

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Doting mother: Sarah Jessica Parker spent yesterday with her twin daughters in Manhattan

She's famous for playing the hippest fashionista who ever walked the streets of Manhattan, but isn't it refreshing to see Sarah Jessica Parker like this?

The 46-year-old actress spent yesterday with her 22-month-old twin daughters in Manhattan, in a casual outfit that would no doubt horrify alter ego Carrie Bradshaw.

But then wafer-thin Carrie, who pirouettes through the city's streets in heels and mini-skirts - often with a giant flower on her head, always tries a bit too hard.

Wardrobe malfunction: Parker unwittingly reveals undergarments as tends to daughter

And it's very hard to manage toddlers while wearing Manolo Blahniks, after all.

It's a refreshingly normal outfit from Parker, who normally tries to promote the cutting-edge fashion at the heart of her juggernaut of a franchise.

Clearly her focus for the day is firmly upon her twin daughters Marion and Tabitha.

A lovely sight: Parker looked refreshingly normal on day out with her girls

It was quite a transformation, from Carrie with cigarette and phone in either hand, to the working mum with pram and toddlers in tow.

Parker even shrugged off a wardrobe malfunction with a smile, as she bent over to tend to one of her beautiful daughters.

The trio enjoyed the morning at a playground before heading to buy groceries, where Parker checked a recipe list carefully.

The star even carried her own shopping bags, and still looked as chic as Carrie wielding a clutch bag.

And while her clothes weren't sharp, the response to reports that Parker leaves the bulk of her childcare to two nannies, was implicitly so.
