Untied: Avril Lavigne wears her laces undone on her Doc Martin boots as she shops with her boyfriend Brody Jenner in Los Angeles yesterday
With bright pink streaks in her hair and an all-black outfit, she looks every inch the rock star.
But Avril Lavigne was setting herself up for a fall yesterday by leaving the laces of her black Doc Martin boots undone.
Luckily the 25-year-old star didn't trip as she left a store on Los Angeles' trendy Melrose Avenue with her boyfriend Brody Jenner.
Along with her unruly laces, Lavigne wore a baggy gold and black T-shirt with black leggings and some stripy yellow and black fingerless gloves.
Jenner, 27, looked like he was making an effort to match his girlfriend's rocky lock with a heavy metal style black hoodie emblazoned with a skull design.
However, the laces on his black trainers were sensibly done up.
The Canadian-born singer and Jenner, a star of MTV show The Hills, have been dating since February this year.

Lavigne split up from her musician husband Deryck Whibley, 26, last year, and their divorce was finalised in November.
Her follow up to the 2007 album The Best Damn Thing was completed over a year ago, but the release has been mired in delays.
There is no release date set for the record, but the first single called What the Hell will be released in January of 2011.
'This song is the least personal song to me off this album,' she said recently. 'It's a fun and funny anthem. It has a broad message about personal freedom. It is the most pop track on the record.'
